For those of you who were less-than-appetized by Monday’s entry about mastic ice cream (mastic = piney fresh tree sap), we offer the photo above of a much more tempting scoop served in an sprinkle-encrusted cone. Unlike Monday’s entry, we don’t have to ask “would you eat it?” because we know almost everyone would!
As for the sprinkle cone, which uses a layer of chocolate to capture the sprinkles, we have just one question: Why don’t more ice cream shops use cones like that?!
By the way, the final two winners in our 12 Days of Ice Cream celebration finally claimed their prize. They are Yaritza R. of Nanticoke, PA (the ice cream pillow) and Valerie B. of Albrightsville, PA (the ice cream scoop). Congrats!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
D’uh, because it would be too messy. Despite the fact it would taste great, I wouldn’t want to wear it so I probably wouldn’t order this.
Maybe since there is nothing to hod it with. I would prefer the chocolate and sprinkles go only 1/2 way down so my fingers don’t get sticky. I also don’t think it would be worth the extra cost over just dipping the cone into the sprinkles.
I agree. Although it would be a tastey treat, I believe that it would be messy, especially on a hot summer’s day.
Good bye Mastic, Hello Jimmies!
Love it!
this one i would love to have
Does an adult-size bib come with it?
Looks delicious, however I never order cones because of the messy factor. But this one looks so yummy, I might break my rule for it.
agreed that it would be very sloppy–but lots of things that are really good involve a bit of sacrifice!!
i always have my ice cream in a waffle cone
That is about the best looking ice cream cone I ever saw!
Extra calories????
this is much more my style!!
Looks good but way too many jimmies…a plain old cone would be just fine.
I prefer mine without the sprinkles.
The ice cream cone in the picture does look delicious.
I like my ice cream cones with just ice cream & no messy distractions!
Looks soooo yummy!!!!!!!I’ll take one!!!!!!!
i don’t think i would eat that cone would be to much sugar for me
We used to call sprinkles “jimmies” when I was a child. They were very popular.
That cone does look good enough to eat, chocolate sprinkle cone and all.
NO. My teeth wouldn’t like competition in chewing all those jimmies.
jimmies on the ice cream is messy enough
At least once a summer I have to get a cone with the crunchy peanut butter sprinkles. The mess is definitely worth it? A layer of chocolate… what a great idea!
yummy, mmmmm good and good again!!
If you eat enough ice cream cones it becomes less messy because you finish the cone before the ice cream melts. A dish is better but not as challenging.
I agree with most of these replys MUCH TOO MESSY
TO MESSY FOR ME ALTHOUGH IT DOES LOOK GOOD. I PREFER MINE IN A DISH. I CAN SAVOR THE FLAVOR WITHOUT ANY MESS.
sprinkles on the cone, how clever. hope I find one soon
Just put my ice cream in the bowl, please.
It looks good.
Best ice cream story ever. Any ice cream aficionado should read this bad boy…

I still would not eat it. I don’t like chocolate ice cream and I can’t stand those sprinkle things. The picture is gross.
I would eat that cone an of course the sprinkles!! oh an yes the icecream!!!!
That cone looks colorful and I’d probably enjoy it but I really do miss the chocolate jimmies of old….these colored ones just don’t measure up.
