The following entry was originally posted in 2010 and recounts a special visit to the Dairy by a special Turkey Hill fan. It’s such a heart-warming story, we thought it deserved a second look.

Previously, we wrote about a 91-year-old woman whose doctor remarked that he’d never in all his years of practicing medicine seen someone of her age with so much energy and liveliness. We also revealed that the super woman in question ate Turkey Hill ice cream every day.
We reached out to the ice cream lover the other day with a phone call and she was more than happy to talk to us. Her name is May, she sounds not a day over 60, and she lives in a retirement community in New Jersey. Early in our conversation, she wanted to set the record straight about her age: she’s not 91 years old, she’s 95 years old and healthier than ever!
When asked about her favorite ice cream flavor, May replied that good old fashioned Turkey Hill Vanilla & Chocolate (the combo flavor) is her go-to frozen treat. She also revealed that she eats three containers of Turkey Hill ice cream each week and that she’d never visited Lancaster County, which prompted an invitation from us to visit our neck of the woods and stop by the Dairy for a VIP tour. This week, May took us up on the offer and visited the Dairy with her son and granddaughter for a tour (that’s her above with Ernie).
Before we ended our conversation with May, we asked her to reveal her secret to a long, healthy life, to which she replied simply, “Think positive and eat ice cream.” Hard to argue with that!

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
I’ll bet she eats more chocolate than vanilla!
i REALLY like her motto–i think i will adopt it from now on!!
Way to go May! I hope I look that good at 95! God Bless You!
My mother-in-law used to eat TH Cherry Vanilla every night before bedtime. She was 83 until her untimely accidental death. Who knows … she may have made it to 95 as well!
Just one more reason to eat ice cream, as if I needed one! May looks great and may she live for many more years to come, with good health and positive thinking!
“Think positive and eat ice cream” – I agree!
What a wonderful story, god bless you May….and enjoy your Turkey Hill Ice Cream everyday!!
And, may the “force” be with her!
Great story!
I hope you guys invite me over for a tour when I’m 95! Great story… thanks!
I just went out and bought some “Chocolate Pretzel”!
This is the best news ever from a senior who adores TH products as much as this woman does!
Congratulations May. Now I have a good excuse for eating my Turkey Hill butter pecan every night, hope to reach age 95.
thats a great story love it
What a great attitude. “Think positive and eat ice cream.”
May is happy! My grandfather lived into his 90 ies an he ate strawberry icecream allmost everyday an he was a lovely happy man!!!an postive as well amazing!!!
My grandmother lived to be 106 years old! She also kept a positive attitude. Grandma also ate ice cream whenever she could. So I have to agree with May, “Think positive and eat (TH) ice cream”!
I like that motto! Works for me!
The Triple Play; 3 cartons a week. I could be working on that plan, too.
great story
What a wonderful story. God bless you May. Keep eating that TH ice cream!!!
Great words to grow older by May. MMMMMMM 3 cartons a week, I know I could do that. Late New Year’s resolution, eat 3 cartons of TH a week and live longer.
Sounds like my mom–soon to be 98! She loves any kind of ice cream and eats it as often as possible.
I hope everyone that eats Turkey Hill Ice Cream is in as good of shape that she is in and lives a long and productive life!
It looks like May found the fountain of youth..she even looks young. Maybe we all need more ice cream.
I eat ice cream everyday. Maybe it will help me to live a long and healthy life like May.
Eating ice cream makes for a positive attitude. May is an example. So stock up on Turkey Hill and think positive.
I think I’m positive I’ll eat ice cream!
At 51, my motto has always been “Treat everyday as a holiday, and every meal a picnic…” Way to go May!
I REMEMBER READING THIS ARTICLE THE FIRST TIME YOU HAD IT. WHAT A GREAT STORY. MAY LOOKS GREAT NOT EVEN CLOSE TO LOOKING HER 95 YEARS. GOD BLESS AND CONTINUE WITH YOUR TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM, MAY.
eating ice cream is a positive action, stay positive and enjoy
She’s a gem!
Sounds like a good plan to me.
Great story!!! You look great May…(and Ernie too)! I can hardly believe you’re 95. I guess your Turkey Hill diet agrees with you but three cartons a week, that’s almost Turkey Hill’s idea of a month’s supply. Clearly, you and I are on the same page as to serving size and you’ve found the golden ticket to a long and healthy life….sadly, it looks like I’ll have to change my flavor of choice to Vanilla and Chocolate.
Yes, attitude is very important and the calcium in the TH keeps bones strong
how sweet! sounds like she’s learned a good way to live
What a wonderful story and a fantastik woman. God bless you May!!! You don’t look 95. Keep eating that TH ice cream!!!!!!!
