Solar-powered ice cream cart turns sun into delicious fun!

Ice cream and sunshine go hand in hand, and several Dutch companies have taken that pairing to heart by creating a solar-powered ice cream cart.

The cart (above and below) uses solar panels in the roof to charge a battery, which powers the cooler storing the ice cream. The roof rises on four telescopic legs that can easily be folded, making the whole unit very simple to transport. And, in case the sun isn’t shining or the battery runs out of power, the cart can be plugged in for a quick charge!

Genius! This is sort of the reverse of Cleveland’s new Collionwood bioenergy facility, which takes leftover ice cream mix from the pipes of a local-based ice cream company and uses this liquid waste in an anaerobic biomass digestion process to generate electricity. That’s right: ice cream is powering Cleveland. Read more in the blog of the World Future Council: http://power-to-the-people.net/2012/08/ice-cream-is-helping-power-cleveland/
