September prize: Ice cream cone bowls!

Ask any ice cream lover and they’ll tell you: Sometimes you want a cone and sometimes you want a dish. If you’re like most people, you rarely – if ever – have cones at home (anyone?), but our September prize will change that. It’s the ice cream cone dish, and its rustic look might just fool you into thinking it’s a real cone. (Don’t bite it!)

The cone bowls ($15) are hand made by Cindy Gilliland, who operates a shop on Etsy.com called Dirt Kicker Pottery. Said Cindy of the bowls:

“I made these bowls on my pottery wheel with smooth porcelain and stoneware blend clay. When the clay firmed up I carved the ice cream cone diamonds. Finished in a glossy rustic cream glaze and fired 2185 degrees strong.”

Feel free to purchase one for yourself (just $15!) or leave a comment below. We’ll choose one comment at random from ALL the comments left on the blog this month to win this tasty dish. Of course, we’ll also throw in some free Turkey Hill ice cream. Good luck!

  218. Suzanne says:

My kids would love to eat ice cream out of these cones!

  219. Jim in SOMD says:

Very nice. Nothing was said as to how many scoops of ice cream it takes to fill the cone/bowl. If it is like the real thing, then one will do the trick, with a second able to fit on top, just like a double scoop cone at the local ice cream shoppe.

  220. Linda Jackson says:

This is just the right size! Does not hold too much or too little. Perfect!

  221. jay says:

This way I can always have a cone with my ice cream.

I love the concept of the cones that were made they look good enough to eat with no calories, and your cone won’t get soggy! When I had my accident I ate a food bit of ice cream and I would have loved a cute little dainty cone cup to put it in makes you feel like summer just looking at it. You can kinda hear the waffer shell crack as ou eat it lol… Hmmm wonder if I have any ice cream in the freezer?

  228. jconley says:

That’s one of those ideas you have to smack your own head and say “it’s so obvious. Why wasn’t it done before??”

  244. JOHN S says:

I have gotten the waffle cones that fit in a regular old boring dumpy-looking glass bowl. When I stab the side of the waffle bowl halfway to the bottom, I can let all that half- melted Turkey Hill Goodness now seep, and goop, and smother the crunchy bits of the waffle bowl in my regular old boring bowl. THIS WOULD REALLY BE COOL FOR MY RAVVENOUS APPETIE FOR TURKEY HILL ICE CREAM>>>> CAN I HAVE A SET OF F O U R OF THESE PLEASE AS MY PRiZE? t h a n k s T H A N K S !!!
