Black licorice is one of those treats that you either love or you hate. A quick poll here at Turkey Hill reveals four people who love it, four people who hate it and one person who claims to have never eaten it (and we believe her because if she had it, she’d remember it).
Until now, it was only available in licorice form, but a shop in California has taken the flavor to a new level with black licorice-flavored ice cream. As you can see in the picture above, the color is very dark. We’re guessing it’s one of those treats that will stain your tongue, which kind of adds to the fun of it, don’t you think?
Fun or not, the question remains: Would you eat it?

If you’ve got a technical question about the ice cream making process or some other inquiry about the nuances of America’s favorite treat, chances are Ernie has the answer. He might not be able to answer all questions, but he’ll try his best and some may be featured on the Ice Cream Journal.
Not if it looked like that.
YUCK! I HATE black licorice…..I would never try it!
My sister on the other hand, is a addictic when it comes to black licorice, she’d eat her share of it plus mine! If black licorice ice cream was available here, you’d have to keep it in stock just for her.
I might try it, but it’s probably one of those things that’s only good in small doses. I do like black licorice, though. And I love ice cream, of course!
Yes, I think I would try it. I like licorice.
I love black licorice and I love Ice cream, so I would try it.
…for sure – no problem!! absolutely love black licorice, as
well as those strawberry TWIZZLERS.
Like licorice, love TH ice cream, would try it. However, it does not look very appetizing!!!!!!!
Now that’s total therapy. Turkey Hill and licorice. Just what the doctor ordered to soothe your stomach.
I love, love, love black licorice but do not think it would taste good as an ice cream flavor. Guess I’d try a lick though and maybe I’d be wrong.
I don’t like licorice and, while I LOVE ice cream, that cone looks very unappealing to me
Never in a thousand years…the thought of it already makes my stomach flop! Ugh.
My father would love it, not me!
yes i would
I love Licorice! I would eat it even if it stained my tongue! I always wanted this ice cream flavor available in the stores!
I ‘d buy it and give it a try. I do know my son-in-law loves anything licorice so I’d get it for him.
No way would I even try something that looked like that. I do hate licorice even the red. Give me a nice chocolate or vanilla.
Strawberry licorice would probably look better however, I would try it.
No – Can’t stand black licorice, although I do like other flavors
Yes, it is one of my favorite candies–especially black jelly beans!
I like licorice, but I had never even given a thought until my wife and I took a trip to Iceland a few years ago. At the end of the trip, we had a little Icelandic money left over. Wanting to get rid of it before leaving, I purchased a chocolate covered vanilla Popsicle. When I got near the stick, I was surprised by the licorice taste. I thought it was some kind of joke (or worse). I asked the man at the counter about it; he laughed and went on to explain that it’s normal in Iceland to put licorice on the stick in the middle of Popsicles. After consideration, I thought that the taste was pretty good. If you like licorice, you’ll probably like black licorice ice cream!
Like black licorice, love your ice cream, but give my cone to Mary-5 stars, and top it off with a licornice jelly bean for her. I’ll hold out for my Turkey Hill mint choco chip!
My Mom & I love, love, LOVE black licorice. We would absolutely try it. Wish we lived near SoCal.
NO WAY!
What a waste of the other ice cream ingredients
I was just reading that aromas can put you in the mood for you-know-what and that licorice was one of the aromas that can do that. Therefore this is a definite yes, especially with your loving partner.
I would try it because I like both flavors, just not sure about the color–not appetizing.
I would eat black licorice ice cream, as I really like both!!
Black licorice is my favorite but in ice cream I don’t know but I would try it!
It looks like tar & I wouldf buy it eat
Not even if it were red licorice!
I would try it but I’m not sure I would make it a habit to buy it all the time.
Yes, I would love to try it. I love ice cream and would try anything.
Would not eat it
I love black licorice and would definitely try the ice cream. It certainly doesn’t look appetizing but then neither does some hummus & guacamole, but once you try it your hooked.
YUCK!
Oh I would love love to try it. I think it would be delicious mixed with marshmallow……YUM!
Ewwwwwwwwe! It does not look very appealing to me. It looks like an oil spill on ice cream.
I would try it…if my mom were live she definitely would…she loved licorice (the real licorice, not the flavored twists). I love the fact that the ice cream is black! It’s fun!
*alive
Not fun at all. Although I don’t dislike black licorice it is nothing I ever crave or even give a passing thought to. Definitely not in my ice cream!!!
I am sorry to say that there is nothing appealing about Licorice and if someone offered me a million dollars to eat Licorice flavored ice cream I would have to painfully decline. My stomache is turning now just thinking about it.
Oh yum! I’d definitely try it.
I would definetly try it, as I love Licorice in any form.
Try almost anything once. Looks not appealing. Maybe it should be shown along with the Strawberry Licorice. It’s a thought.
Nooooooooooo thank you!!!!!
Noooooooooooooooo thank you!!!!
I would indeed like it as I love licorice, plus the redo . It sound good to me. Make it and I will be your taste tester. t
why not try something differant. Maybe next time it might be red licorice .
i would absolutely LOVE this ice cream. When i was a teenager (just 40 years ago) a local ice cream shop actually had black licorice ice cream, but it was swirled with vanilla, and i ordered it EVERY time i went there…it’s delicious!
Yuppers! Love Black Licorice!
I love Turkey Hill ice cream, and I love black licorice, but never the twain shall meet! It doesn’t look or sound good to me.
Absolutely NOT! I like black licorice, but NOT in my ice cream!
Black ice cream? Really? Ice cream should be in pretty, fun colors, not black. Yuck. No way would I eat it.
No way in my house. Both Hubby and I do nor like black licorice. We in fact remove those from a plate of jelly beans either to give away or toss
YES I would definitely try it. I love licorice. When I was little mama would buy us licorice babies.
Yes I would try it even though it has an ugly look! I love black licorice, don’t know if I would like it in ice cream though.
Did you say that is a special??? Can’t wait, you should have made it yesterday.ultiesdt consent
Not me!
Would you make it?? If you would make it, I would eat it.
WOULD GIVE IT A TRY
HELL YES I WOULD EAT THAT
I would like to try it, it might be good
no way dont like it
I would rather have a root canal!
Absolutely I would eat it. I love licorice and the dark color adds to the fun of it.
If it was given as a free taste, I would.
I’d give it a try. Probably more tasty then it looks!
no thank you – never liked the black licorice
Not a chance. How about an All Natural Butter Pecan ice cream??
I like good and plenty candy so yes I’d eat black licorice ice cream.
It looks a bit strange, but I like licorice. So, I would try the ice cream!
No no no I hate licorice.
Yes, I love licorice!
I have found black licorice ice cream on a few occasions and have bought a five gallon container. It is wonderful.
I would definitely eat black licorice ice cream. I love black licorice and I love ice cream… Smoosh ‘em together, why don’tcha?;)
I would be willing to try a sample and then decide whether or not I like it.
I like licorice in small doses as candy, but I’m not sure I’d like it in ice cream! Give me my TH Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup! My husband, on the other hand, might like it! He LOVES black licorice jelly beans! In fact, they are about the only candy that he does like, so he would probably like TH black licorice ice cream!
I love Ice Cream but I don’t think I would try black licorice.
Not too appetizing looking, but I like the taste of licorice especially black licorice. Perhaps just changing the color of the ice cream would be a better alternative.
NO THANK YOU!
Sure would! The only place that I know of locally (Philly area) that makes an anisette (licorice) ice cream is an ice cream shop in New Hope. It’s a gourmet flavor. Some people don’t like strawberry or mocha (me) but that’s why there’s vanilla and chocolate.
Yes, I definately would!
I’m in the love black licorice group and I’d definately try it.
One of my favorite sweets, growing up, was black licorice BUT, only Callard and Bowser. (Not sure of spelling.) If it tasted like that, it would be my only I.C.
Although, yeah, I’d try it. What a great Halloween treat or “Over the Hill” party dessert. I know some weddings that could/should use.
The possibilities are endless. Celebrate your divorce, tacky, huh. Dinner with the monster in law. Bruins, (or other,) team parties. Get over it/him/her……..I.C. cake made of bk I.C. and white choc topping. (Comfort food.)
Who cares, what it tastes like. The novelty would make people want it at their next bash !!!
Okay, where and when do I get it? Halloween is coming. And a relative’s b-day.
One of my favorite sweets, growing up, was bk licorice. But only Callard and Bowser. (Not sure of spelling) If it tasted like that, it would be my only I.C.
But, yeah I would try. What a great Halloween treat or “Over the Hill” party dessert.
Imagine the possibilities. Celebrate your divorce, tacky, huh. Dinner with the monster in law, Bruins (or other team) parties. Get Over It/Him/Her. Comfort food. I know some wedding that could or should serve black I.C.
Black is the new ??????? Okay, where and when can I get it? I have a relative’s b-day coming up and Halloween.
Not to question the people at Turkey Hill’s expertise with ice cream, but I remember Baskin-Robbins (defunct ice cream shop chain) having licorice ice cream – equally dark – in the 70s. I didn’t like it then and probably wouldn’t try it now.
No. So not a black licorice fan!!
Definitly would try! Love licorice! …But most black licorice seems to have dissappeared off shelves! …Think real black licorice has some sort of health concerns associated with it!
I would love to try black licorice ice cream. I eat all types of black licorice candy( Twizzlers, red vine, good and plenty, black jelly beans) It’s absolutely my favorite candy, which I eat probably way too much of.
I love black licorice & wish I could find it around here. I even steal all the black jelly beans from the bag of jelly beans at Easter. I would love to try the black licorice ice cream..
definetly would eat it
yes I would
No, I wouldn’t. I like licorice but not in ice cream
I think I wouldn’t like it. Give me the real “Turkey Hill”!!!
I like black licorlce but not in ice cream-no I would not try it
I had it from Baskin & Robbins in the late 70′s. It was fantastic. Sure it made your mouth a little dark but it was great. Haven’t found any place with it since. I’d definitely go for it again!
I had it from Baskin & Robbins back in the late 70′s. Fantastic! Sure, it made your mouth a little dark but it was great!
no.
yes, black licorice is my favorite
I certainly would NOT eat this ice cream.. of course I don’t like black licorice at all either!! yuck!!
Yes. Black licorice is not one of my all time favorites but I really think it would be good in ice cream!
Love the flavor of black licorice. Does the ice cream have to be Black? That’s what will put most people off the idea. What I love about Turkey Hill is the natural nature of the flavors. Black is not the natural color of the flavor of black licorice.
GREAT IDEA,,,,YES, YES, YES..
I would like to try it
I would like to try it. I love licorice candy
I love black licorice so I would definitely like to try it.
Nope, don’t like it at all
That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen – it kinda reminds me of lava! Yes I’d give it a try!
Even if I liked black licorice (which I don’t) I would never try ice cream that color – it looks like oil!
would love to try it. black is the the only flaver in my opion.
I LOVE licorice! I would definitely try it. Yum!
I have had Black Licorice ice cream and it is AWESOME !!!! I would buy it
I love black licorice, so I would eat this, but small amounts only
No I would not eat licorice ice cream. Maybe red liccorice but not black licorice..
Sure. Would try anything once. SO OFTEN I’ve been pleasantly surprised by “LOVIN’ IT!”
I could live on anything licorice.
No I would not eat licorice ice cream. Maybe red licorice ice cream tho.
No I would not eat licorice ice cream. Maybe red licorice though.
No I would not eat licorice ice cream. Maybe red licorice though
I love black licorice, so yes, I would definitely try it.
No I would not eat licorice ice cream. Maybe red licorice ice cream though
Several years ago I worked in Yellowstone Park and sold Wilcoxson ice cream. We got 4 pints of licorice and at the end of summer still had them so the clerks split a pint and each only took one taste. The color was repulsive also.
Oh my goodness, that sounds so wonderful. Licorice is my favorite flavor. I’m thinking about having a licorice milk shake, a Black Russian with ice cream instead of Sambucca, and putting a scoop in my coffee. Please let me know when you make this flavor available to purchase!
I hate black licorice or anything with an anise flavor! My husband, on the other hand, would love this!
Love to try it. Never saw in super markets.
Would love to try it. I love licorice and would be happy to test it out for you even though I suspect I would have a blck tongue. Some things are worth a little inconvenience.
No way. I don’t like black licorice.
Would love to try it. I love licorice and would be happy to test it out for you even though I suspect I would have a black tongue. Some things are worth a little inconvenience.
Yes!
Our family loves Turkey Hill products-all of them, from ice cream to the iced teas! We are a family of six,so you can imagine how much ice cream we buy-all year ’round, not just during the warmer months.Turkey Hill makes really great quality products, which as a mom I really appreciate.
I know I’m in the minority here, but I LOVE black licorice! I would definetly give it a try!
I have never eaten black licorice ice cream but since I love licorice, I would be willing to try it and I am guessing that my sister would also as she loves licorice even more than I do.
Never. Licorice is too dominant a flavor. It is so strong that I bet most folks would only be able to eat a tablespoon or two at a sitting. And that color, – stains your clothes, your tongue, the kitchen counter where you left a drip, and your fingers. Why not make an anise flavored one? No black color, and a milder flavor would put it in the “I’ll try it” column for me.
Use to eat it when I was a kid back in the 50′s at a specialty ice cream pallor. Love it. Would buy it in a flash.
Absolutely…..one of my favorite flavors !!!
There is no amount of money short of $1,000,000 that would make me eat that ice cream cone. It simply would not be worth it to endure black licorice ice cream, and the memory thereof.
I would love tto try it.
I would love to try your black licorice ice cream. When I was a kid my drug store would sell black licorice among other flavors. We also use to make hand cranked ice cream. Black licorice was one of about 40 different flavors. Keep up the good work Turkey Hill.
Hate black licorice but chocolate licorice is another story. That would be awesome!!
Sorry, you couldn’t pay me to eat black licorice, not even in ice cream form!
Ugh!!! No!!!
I love Turkey Hill ice cream, and I always have a few flavors in my freezer.
While I haven’t yet found one of your delicious flavors that I don’t like, I can definitely say I will not be trying licorice.
Sorry, but I just plain don’t like the taste of it.
No way. don’t like black licorice…………
I like to try new things, so I would try it. I like black jellybeans
I would love to try it! I eat anise seeds all the time. I usually eat icecream every night before bed so a black tongue and lips not so bad. Not sure I’d want to have that happen in the middle of the day and need to brush my teeth before going back to work… Haha!
Yes I would eat this! I am from Australia, have lived in the USA for 10 years and one of the things that I miss – among many of course – is black licorice ice cream. It’s a specialty flavor in ice cream parlors in Australia, and one of my absolute favorites. I would buy so much of this it would be embarrassing!! Please please make it.
Baskin-Robbins once had black licorice. I remember liking it.
I love licorice and it would be an adventure to try it!
No way. It looks disgusting. Maybe chocolate licorice would taste and look better. I love ice cream, but I would have to pass on this one.
I would definitely try it.
I would try this!
yes I would definity try it.
I would not. I cannot even stand the smell of licorice. My 14 year old DD on the other hand would like it. Maybe not so black though. White icecream with a mild licorice taste and a ribbon of intense would be better. They had that down in Wildwood a few times when I was a kid.
No, i would personally not eat it. The flavor of licorice is one that you most definetly have to love or at least like. It’s not one you can eat on a “regular” basis…in my opinion.
i love licorice, bring it on soon!!!
Yes, It is something different, we all need to get out of the box and give this product a chance. I love it.
I love ice cream and I love black licorce. However I would not eat black licorice ice cream.
Matter fact I have tryed black licorice ice cream in younger days. Actually it was pretty good. It was seasonal item. You should put it out in stores during Halloween season along with your pumpkin. It made my mouth turn black that was fun part of that.
i would try it.
It sounds and looks disgusting, and I like black licorice. Try the red!
i like all your ice cream i tried
Maybe…………I love black licorice and black jelly beans.
Never thought of it as ice cream, but I would try it.
I would certainly try it because I love licorice.
i would try it because i like black licorice. sounds like an interesting flavor.
Would recommend a Cherry/Vanilla frozen Yogurt versus Black licorice ice cream…
I LOVE black licorice but I would be afraid to it a dish for fear that I may be mistaken for a Chinese Shar-Pei which commonly have black tongues.
I would try black licorice, I think the flavor would be to strong if it was all black licorice. I think it would taste better swirled in vanilla bean ice cream.
No way – we don’t like anything black licorice flavored!
Love all licorice. Would most likely love licorice ice cream.
I love ice cream but I think I would have to turn this one down.
Yes, I love black licorice.
YES, I would eat it and HAVE EATEN it~ years ago at Baskin-Roberts!
Yuck. It doesn’t even look good, more like tar. Presentation means so much and definitely doesn’t make a good presentation.
Yes! I have had orange ice cream with black licorice stripes. They called it tiger ice cream, and it was very good!
no
No, i would not try it as i do not like black licorice. On the other hand, i would buy as my sons and husband love black licorice!
No, i dont like licorice. But my dad would have
Yes! I ate black licorice ice cream on a trip years ago….it is hard to find….I suggested this a few years ago for a new flavor..I would eat it!!
no! it looks like tar. in my mind i can taste medicine. maybe a strawberry or chocolate licorice would change my mind.
it looks like dirty oil and is not appealing. my stomach would not accept it as a treat
This is one flavor I would maybe have one scoop and maybe wait awhile to have it again.
It is proably one I would have a scoop and then come back to sometime later down the road.
It is something I would have one scoop and then some time later down the road do it again. It’s not on the bucket list to try.
NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love black licorice and would eat it in any shape or form.
love really good licorice so I would give it a try then like or dislike more likey to like
No way! I really don’t like black licorice, which is basically anise flavor which I like in my pizzelles.
Cookies and Cream will be the overall winner but …. your salted caramel is the ultimate … one bite becons for the next! Have eaten it to the point of being sick! Hmmm!
Not a chance I would never eat this its posion to me yuck
That just does not even look appealing. No way would I eat it just because of the color. YUCK!!!
Yes, I would try it, But just a bit to start.
i would try it ..ive been trying new flavors of ice cream …i even mix turkey hill flavors together ..hey the kids love it ..
I remember when i was young there was an ice cream flavour that was called ” tiger tail ” .. it was mainly an orange ice cream that had ribbobs of vanilla and licorice through it .. loved it
I have a houseful of ice cream addicts..including my husband. We love all flavors but each of my 5 kids have their personal favorites. We however are not lovers of black licorice , and from the look of it I’m pretty certain that for the very first time a container of ice cream would actually survive more than a day in my freezer!!!!
I have a houseful of icecream addicts however this is one flavor that I’m sure would survive more than a day in our freezer..(unlike most other flavors). No licorice lovers here !
That looks awful! Everyone in my family loves ice cream, but I don’t think anyone would eat this. It would sit in my freezer till the day I have to get a new freezer.
i dont think i would even try this just buy its looks
YES! I love black licorice and ice cream so I am sure this would be a quick favorite.
it doesn’t look very apetizing. but i would give it a try
Yes, I would eat it! I love black licorice! YUM!
I love both ice cream and black licorice. I think that it would be good for cutting down on portion size as a little would go along way. Perhaps a “swirl” would be better?!
I think it would taste delicious, but should be either a Biscotti ice cream, or black licorice swirled with vanilla ice cream. If it’s made like a sherbert, it could get sickening real fast.
I would try it. My wife loves black licorice, and I’m sure she would also.
No Thank You!
I personally wouldn’t eat it, but I have a sister and a friend who love licorice so I would definately buy it for them.
Sorry, this does NOT sound like a good flavor to me… and the color (black) turns me off…
Now Key Lime / Blueberry would be a combo I’d try any day!
Yuck….doesn’t even sound good…..don’t think so…..maybe for someone who likes licorice but not me or my family….now red….maybe…..
ew no thanks, not my cup of tea! (or bowl of ice cream, for that matter!)
absolutely NOT!
Yes i would eat black licorice icecream sworled in vanilla icecream
This flavor is awesome I’ve had it before years ago at Baskin Robbins it was delicious I’ve been asking about it for years.
I would not eat it. i like to try new foods and flavors but I am one of those people who dislikes licorice so I will not be trying any licorice ice cream.
I love black licorice and yes I would try it. Many articles that I have read both on the internet and in reading material says that good black licorice is good for you in many ways. I look forward to trying it someday.
When I was a little girl, licorice was my favorite flavor of ice cream. It was always what I oredered when I bought an ice cream cone. Then it seemed to disappear. I have a hard time finding licorice ice cream.
Absolutely! It looks delicious. Please distribute it as a limited edition flavor and see how well it sells!
I would love to have it again…it has been years, and i love the taste of licorice!
I like black licorice but I’m not sure if I would like it in ice cream….
I love licorice ice cream. The Purple Cow in Easton, PA has been making it for years in October for Halloween, love it with a scoop of orange sherbert.
I like Black licorice, I would definitely try it! I’d buy it in the small pint size first though!
Sounds interesting – could be good!
That looks like roofing tar ,no way!mix that with pb and id rather die than eat it!
Interesting, Yes. But, no way! This isn’t how ice cream looks. Maybe put black licorice into the ice cream.
In HOW!
IN HOW!
When we vacationed in Finland, licorice ice cream was sold everywhere. I thought it would taste horrible, but tried it and loved it. Light licorice flavor, but not the tar black color of your pix. I got triple scoop cones of licorice ice cream and also another of my favorites, mango, with small chunks of mango in it.
I would not try it, I do not like licorice
I love black licorice, but don’t know how it would taste in ice-cream. I’d have to try a cone before buying a whole container of it.
When I was a little girl I tryed black licorice ice cream. It came out at Halloween time. It also turned my mouth and teeth all black. That was fun part during halloween time.
I never seen the black licorice since then. I myself have tired so many different flavors of ice cream. I so many favoites I can’t name them all. I have tryed Green tea ice cream which was bad news.
I love licorice, but am not sure about having it in the form of ice cream. I guess I’d try it. The first time I went to a Japanese restaurant, I tried red bean ice cream and loved it! So you never know until you try something what your verdict will be.
I would be interested in trying the black licorice ice cream. I am always interested in the unusual flavors.
I do not like black licorice and I am sorry, but that looks like a cone of tar.
I don’t like black licorice, so I think it’ll taste nasty!
I’ll admit, it looks a little scary but I would DEFINITELY eat it!
I’ll admit it looks a little scary but I would DEFINITELY eat it!
I’d try it….
It looks a little scary but I would DEFINITELY eat it!
I don’t like black licorice. But, I would probably try a taste, just to say I did it.
I love licorice and I love ice cream…not sure of the combination but would try it especially if it was available in a small pint size container so as not to waste a lot if I do not like it..
I would certainly try it once. I love black jelly beans. I what my teeth would look like after eating it!
I love black licorice.I would think that the taste of licorice with cool creamy ice cream would be a winner!ia
As someone who’s never liked licorice…well, no I wouldn’t eat it. Though I guess actually I might sample it if someone else gave me a bite of theirs…but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t like it. Give me cinnamon, peanut butter, chocolate, fruits, and those kinds of classic ice cream flavors – that’s my speed.
What an awesomely superb idea black licorice ice cream! I want some, right now!
Sounds good to me,never seen this one at the store yet. Would like to try it in a smaller container size first to see if I really do like it.
Absolutely- had some many years ago. Had the taste of Black Licorice, but was pink in color. When are you making it?
I don’t even like black licorice, but I would try a “coneful” of BL. I’ll try almost anything once…and twice if I like it.
I just love black licorice. I would try this.
I love black licorice, black jelly beans and any thing with anise flavor but this does not look appealing. I might try it but probably would not purchase a large container unless I had already tried and liked the flavor.
No way, I hate the taste of black licorice
I love black licorice, but I have to say that looks more like a cone full of tar than ice cream…not sure I could get past the visual to taste it.
Oh no, but I do love turkey hill!
Hi I love turkey hill!
Not for me – not a fan. I would love to try carmel popcorn ice cream though
I’m not a fan, but I might try red licorice ice cream.
I have had licorice ice cream many years ago and I loved it. Never saw it again and have been searching for it.
No way would I eat this, sorry but I hate licorice!
I love licorice and I love your ice cream but this sounds like a yucky combination.
should have marshmellows or vanilla /cream
Show me where!
I absolutely would eat black licorice ice cream, I think it could be my favorite !!!!!
I have not tried it yet but I love black licorice so I would love to try it!
I would give it a try…especially if it were swirled with vanilla.
I would love love love black licorice.
Sounds kind of gross! Would it leave my lips and teeth black.
Speaking as a licorice lover, this flavor could be outstanding if you could capitalize on a salty-sweet recipe.
No way!!!
Yes! I would be the first in line.
Heck yeah! I had some at a small ice cream shop in seattle and it was great. Yes, your tongue turns black, but that really impresses the grandkids. I’d be one of your best customers if this flavor is introduced.
never had it but i will try it hopefully
What an interesting idea! I do love the flavor of black licorice. But I wonder if it’s in a cold form if it would “feel” right? Like the people who make buttered popcorn flavored jelly beans; the taste is good, but when you don’t have the crunchy warm consistency of real popcorn, it loses something.
But I would definitely try the black licorice ice cream!!
YES ..I WOULD try the black licorice !
Oh, I so would love to try this. PLEASE make it available!
Considering that I love peppermint, to the ultimate max, I would definitel taste it, lick it and chomp it down! Uhhhh, that’s if it’s chompable!
no i ould not eat it
I would eat the black licorice as is are better yet with confection bits mixed in
YES, YES, YES, please make it one of your flavors. It has been years since I have been able to find black licorice ice cream. Love the taste even with a black tongue.
How about Moxie ice cream?
Peanut butter Banana with chocolate bits, chips, or chunks
I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to try the Black Licorice flavored Turkey Hill Ice Cream.
It would take me back to my childhood days & the happy times & memories I shared
with my siblings, mother, father, & other family members : )
It would be fantastic! How about an ice cream flavor based on anise biscotti with almonds?
No way, that sounds and looks awful. Sorry!
The black licorice ice cream is something I might try but I doubt I would care much for it. Who knows?
No way. But I like that someone recommended an anisette biscotti flavor. That with coffee or french vanilla would be delicious. Black ice cream just doesn’t appeal to me. It looks like tar.
I would like to try it but I would not care for it if it stains.
I think I’ll pass on the black licorace flavor.
I had licorice ice cream at least 33 years ago at an ice cream stand here in NY. I’ve been looking for it ever since but no luck. It wasn’t as dark as this one though. It was more of a dark grey. I’d buy it again.
I think it looks great, would love to try it!
It looks great, I would love to try it!!!
Yes, I would try it. I love black licorice, especially when it’s really “fresh”, soft, and chewy. I also love ice cream, so I think black licorice flavored ice cream would be good. That being said, I don’t think I’d be happy if it gave me a black tongue and/or lips!
hmmmm… no thank you. =]
no, lets not destroy ice cream with a flavor like that
I’m moving to California just to get that licorice ice cream. Best creation since the Silicon valley
Ahhh, the taste of black licorice ice cream. It certainly brings back childhod memories o sitting on the porch in the sun, and getting a black tongue, face and clothes every time. Life was so easy and fun as a kid!
If its called ice cream I will eat it
Licorice ice cream was my favorite when I was a little girl. I don’t remember the brand, but it was white and blackish swirled. I would stock this up in a minute! I sure hope you’re planning on making it, too, Turkeyhill.
If it was available in any market within 40 miles of my home, I would pay any price and fill my freezer with it.
baskin robbins 31 flavors had it in their stores in the early mid seventies and i could not get enough…..
I love black licorice and eat it all the time. But to be honest that does not look appealing, sorry!
I like black licorice,,,love ice cream,,, but not sure the two would go together. I would try it though,,,, you never know if you don’t try!
Of course I’d try it! It’s ice cream and it’s black licorice which I also like — so — why not! Put it on the market for a limited edition and let those of us who like adventures in eating have at it.
It doesn’t look apealing
Looks like lava in a cone! Not sure that I would even try it.
I haven’t seen black licorice ice cream since I was a kid…I loved it then and would definitely eat it again now!!!
No, black ice cream does not sound appealing
Just the thought of black licorice makes me ill. The scent, the texture, and especially the taste is something I could do without.
Absolutely- love black licorice, I think it would be lovely,
does not sound or look appealing
how about red licorice?
No, Love black licorice, but it is a warming flavor. And Icecream should have a slight CHILL. lololo

Why would anybody consider Black Licorice? Sorry, Not a flavor on my list!
YUCK! I hate black licorice but my Hubby would LOVE it!!!
Sorry,Not my Flavor! How about POP ROCKS!Crackling HARD LITTLE FLAVORED BITS OF CANDY? mIXED WITH vANILLA FLAVOED ICE CREAM!
I’d give it a try. I’m always willing to give new flavors a fair shot. The thing about black licorice is that some brands are better than others. I would definitely taste it even though it looks like a lump of hot tar on a cone.
I’ve had it in Montana and LOVE it!!
That does not seem tasty at all, sorry…not a black licorice fan.
I love black licorice. I would definitely try it!
As much as I love black licorice, I don’t think I would like the
ice cream.
Absolutely NOT!!!!
I’d definitely give that a try.
my mom loved black licorice..and actually found it in ice cream(10 years ago)..she loved it and the nurses did too. i was amazed that i found it! but mom is gone now and i would never buy it.
Never tasted licorice ice ceam, but I like licorice, so I would probably like the ice cream.
I’ve eaten black licorice & vanilla ice cream as a kid. I’ve eaten pickles & ice cream as a kid. I love ice cream! I will usually try a new flavor at least once. If I love it, I’ll keep going back. I loves me some ice cream. Turkey Hill Flavors are my favorite! Soooo creammmmmy & delicioussssss!!! Thanks for ALL the GREAT ICE CREAM CHOICES!!!! ;9
Like black licorce, but don’t know if I would like it in ice cream. As my aunt used to say: Try it, you’ll like it. Guess that’s what I should do!!!
I would love to try it….. I like the black licorce jelly beans at Easter. Please make it a limited edition ice cream : D

Denise
I don’t think so.
I don’t like licorice so would not eat it, and the photo of the ice cream looks like, I hate to say it, tar.
I love black licorice, so I think the ice cream would be awesome. I would definitely try it.
NO, I don’t like black licorice.
I have never had black licorice ice cream but would love to try taht flavor. I enjoy black licorice and eat it often.
Absolutely…..I would LOVE it!
Wow – I sure hope it tastes better than it looks. I like licorice – have known to partake in a Sambuca or two back in the day – but as an ice cream? Think I’ll pass. Also – I’m more a fan of the red licorice than the black.
YES I WOULD LOVE TO TRY BLACK LICORICE !! WHERE CAN I BUY IT??
I LIVE IN BATH, PA. I CAN’T WAIT TO TRY IT !
PAT PALENCAR EMAIL ME WHERE I CAN PURCHASE SOME !
I love black licorice so I would love to try this flavor. I have not seen it in the store…is it available?
Oh YES!!!! I LOVE black licorice ice cream. Please, please, please make this flavor available.

Nope, not a fan of black licorice.
Absolutely
Does not appeal to me.
Yes, I love black licorice and Ice Cream so I think it would be a great match. I would buy it.
Although I like black licorice i think eating black licorice ice cream would be too overwhelming of a flavor.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YUCK
Ice cream is an adventure that’s all about exploration, so YES to black licorice!
I would try it. Don’t know if I would like it. All your products are yummy. So, I would probably love it as well.
Loving black licorice as I do, it would be a definite try on a single serving cone, but I am not sure I’d like to go all in on a full container – just in case.
No…
No, I’d avoid black licorice ice cream like the plague.
I really like black licorice, my Swedish relatives knew this & offered me a bag of mixed black licorice. As I took a large amount in hand & started to put one in my mouth I wish I had noticed the smiles on their faces; it was SALTY!! As long as it is not Swedish licorice but made by Turkey Hill I would try it!
There are so many other creative flavors yet to be invented that I have to skip this one. YUCK!!!!! As an aside, I do love black licorice…just not in ice cream form.
hate it
Never had it but i would like too try some
Yukk, this one would be right up there with coffee ice cream. Dislike them both and do net even need to try!!!
i would love to try a 3 section container of black, chocolate and red licorich
Do You Like Green Eggs and Ham????
I’d try it but have to say i wouldn’t want my mouth being stained black!
I love black licorice but am not so sure I would love it as an ice cream flavor. I also agree that I would worry about staining my lips and teeth temporarily, as regular licorice does.
YES, I WOULD LIKE TO TRY THIS,I ENJOY ALL YOUR ICE CREAMS AND I BRING THEM WITH ME WHEN I VISIT OTHER PEOPLE. PEOPLE BRING A BOTTLE OF WINE I BRING ICE CREAM !
YES! Love Black Licorice! When I was a kid, we would go out to eat, and then go to Baskin-Robbins for dessert sometimes, and they had Black Licorice I.C. Loved it!
Well, I do know about Black.. But what about Cherry or Chocolate Licorice Turkey Hill ice cream? You are the right track, just the wrong flavor T.H. staff. Go for it!
As a person looking to eat a heart healthy diet licorice is not permitted.
I ate licorice and liked it before in moderation.
It sounds good, but not for me.
I look for flavors that have all the ingredient percentages of less than double digits, i.e. 10 % or less.
They are available for which I am very happy!
I would not even try it! It looks like black tar! I do not like black licorice, so this ice cream just sounds nasty!
ABSOLUTELY! love black licorice. when is it coming to the east coast? can not wait…
Absolutely Not! I’ll stick to my chocolate and peanut butter!
I have already tried black licorice ice cream from a local ice cream shop years ago and it is excellent. A dark black look is not as appealing as a lighter Color- not of course sacrificing flavor. I would say try putting it in pints to test.
No thanks that would give me the sh*ts.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU MAKE LICORICE ICE CREAM
I can not imagine eating this flavor, it is definitely an acquired taste.
I would definitely try it.
I used to buy my mom black licorice ice cream at Baskin Robbins and she loved it! I am searching for it now to buy it for her for Mother’s Day.
I LOVE black licorice ice cream! I’ve had it many times in the past and always look for it whenever I’m near a new ice cream shop. I first had it when I was a kid (about 40 years ago) – a local grocery store had a soda fountain place in it and they had black licorice ice cream. Nowadays it’s not so easy to find – apparently a lot of people don’t like it – or won’t give it a try. I think it’s really good! Yes, it will make your tongue black (or greenish-black) and may temporarily stain your teeth and lips. It’s worth it!!! Yummm!
I LOVE black liquorice ice cream!! I haven’t seen in in years. I grew up in MI and it was a favorite along with Blue Moon. The ice cream brand was Mooney’s. I also has black liquorice ice cream while we lived in WY, from a park concessions at Sheridan WY. Don’t remember that brand.
