CONGRATS TO THE PHILLIES AND YANKEES!

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

October is here, which can mean only one thing for baseball fans – playoff baseball and the World Series. It’s an exciting time, which is why we’d like to congratulate the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees, both teams for which Turkey Hill makes special ice cream flavors, for making it to the playoffs this year.

If you’re a fan of either team, and we’re guessing many of you are, be sure to stock up on the official flavors so you can root, root, root for the home team in style. For Phillies fans, that means Phillies Graham Slam or Phillie Phanatic Double Play. For Yanks fans, you’ll want to stock up on Yankees Bronx Bombers Sundae or Yankees Pinstripe Brownie Blast.

Once again, congrats to both teams for making it this far, and may the best team – and best flavor – win!!

THE TURKEY HILL SHUFFLE AND A SWEET GRAND SLAM

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Below is a video of the “Turkey Hill Ice Cream Shuffle” which is played on the Phillies jumbotron during every Phillies home game. You might miss it because the video starts a little late, but the baseball starts out in the middle Turkey Hill container and you have to guess which container it’s in after they get done doing their shuffling. By the way, don’t miss the man in the red shirt toward the end of the video (on the left) who happens to be eating Turkey Hill ice cream out of a miniature Phillies helmet!

We should also take this time to belatedly congratulate Phillies first baseman, Ryan Howard, who hit a grand slam last week against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The bases loaded homer was the ninth of his young career, extending his team record. Phillies legend Mike Schmidt is second on the team’s grand slam list with seven. Congrats Ryan! Maybe some Turkey Hill Graham Slam ice cream is a good way to celebrate? (Sorry, we couldn’t resist.)

TAKE ME OUT TO THE… BRAIN FREEZE!

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Ahh, baseball. There’s nothing like catching a game on a warm spring or summer day. Grab a few hot dogs, maybe some popcorn and finally some ice cream. You know, the kind in the little batting helmet. Now a minor league baseball team in Ohio has taken the helmet full of ice cream to a whole new level with a treat they’re calling the Fifth Third Fantastic Freeze Sundae.

The Fifth Third Fantastic Freeze Sundae is comprised of 15 scoops of ice cream served in a FULL SIZED batting helmet. No miniature helmets for this treat! The $25 concoction is said to serve “one to eight fans” and is topped with whipped cream, hot fudge, rainbow sprinkles, peanuts, and cherries. At the top of this entry is a photo of the giant dessert, although the photo probably doesn’t accurately convey the enormity of this creation.

How ’bout it, ice cream fans? Who thinks they have what it takes to step up to the plate and polish this bad boy off all by themselves?

APRIL PRIZE: A PHILLIES OR YANKEES T-SHIRT (AND FREE ICE CREAM!)

Friday, April 9th, 2010

In the spirit of the brand new baseball season, this month’s prize is a cool, retro looking t-shirt honoring one of the two teams Turkey Hill proudly sponsors – the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees. The shirts are pictured below and can be purchased at the Phillies or Yankees websites.

One comment from all the comments left this month will be chosen to win your choice of the two shirts. If you’re not a fan of either team, chances are you know someone who is and you can surprise them with it as a gift. Feel free to keep the Turkey Hill ice cream coupons that come with it for yourself!

BATTER UP!

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Smell that? It’s a subtle combination of grilled hot dogs, popcorn, and freshly cut grass. It’s a scent that can only mean one thing – baseball season has begun. That’s right, the Major League Baseball season kicked off this past weekend and the folks here at Turkey Hill couldn’t be more excited.

After all, what’s not to love about baseball season? Even if you don’t love baseball, you have to love the warmer weather and green grass. Or maybe you love the backyard barbeques and walks in the park. Or maybe it’s swimming in the pool and working in your garden. But if you’re a baseball fan, you get to love all of that stuff AND celebrate the return of America’s Pastime. Life is good, isn’t it?

We probably don’t have to remind you, but Turkey Hill is the proud sponsor of two of baseball’s best teams, the Philadelphia Philles and the New York Yankees. We also make the official ice cream flavors for both teams – Phillies Graham Slam and Phillie Phanatic Double Play for the Phils, and Pinstripe Brownie Blast and Bronx Bomber Sundae for the Yanks.

We’re also bringing back our Phillies Graham Slam sweepstakes this year, which could send you and friend to Florida to watch a Phillies Spring Training game in 2011. For more info, check out our website. Yankees fans also have a sweepstakes to help them see their favorite team in action, including a grand prize trip to Yankee Stadium and a special alumni dinner to meet some Yankee greats. Feel free to check out the details here. In the meantime, grab a scoop or two (or three) in support of your favorite team and get ready for an exciting season!

THE GREATEST STORE EVER?

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

This photo caught our eye because it’s related to this month’s poll and, for many of us, it’s perhaps the greatest store in existence. It’s located in Cooperstown, NY (home of the Baseball Hall of Fame) at 137 Main Street (as seen in the photo). After a little research, we’re guessing that the “greatest store” seen in this photo is the Sandlot Kid Bat Company. According to their website, they’re also located at that address and specialize in engraved personalized baseball bats. And ice cream, of course.

Now we realize not all of you are baseball fans, but we are all ice cream fans. Which leads us to ask: If a baseball and ice cream store isn’t your idea of perfection, what other item would a store have to sell (in addition to ice cream) in order to top your list of places to shop?

A VISIT FROM THE PHILLIES WORLD SERIES TROPHY

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Many of you probably already know that the Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series last October. You may also know that Turkey Hill has a long-standing relationship with the Fightin’ Phils as the makers of the team’s official ice cream flavor, Phillies Graham Slam.

As a member of the “team,” Turkey Hill was overjoyed when the Phillies’ World Series trophy made a stop in Lancaster County to spend some time at the Dairy earlier this month. Below is a picture of the hardware along with a camera man from the local CBS news affiliate. A big thanks goes out to Jeff Hutchison at Hutch Graphics in Millersville, PA for capturing this photo.

Doesn’t it look all nice and shiny? We like to think we played at least a little bit of a role in helping the Phils take home the gold last year. After all, ice cream is the ultimate reward for victorious Little Leaguers, so why can’t it work for the pros?

PHINALLY! THE PHILLIES WIN THE WORLD SERIES!

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

It’s a great day in Philadelphia because last night the Phillies beat the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 4-3 to win the World Series! Philly has a team in each of the four major sports (football, baseball, hockey and basketball) and this is the city’s first championship in ANY sport since 1983. Twenty-five years is a long time to wait, but it makes that much sweeter.

Our sincerest congratulations go out the Phillies and their many, many fans (including some right here in the Turkey Hill offices). We’re proud to be a Phillies sponsor and even prouder to say that our Phillies Graham Slam is the official ice cream of Major League Baseball’s World Champions!
