IT’S FRIDAY! (ANOTHER REASON TO CELEBRATE)

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Is it really Friday already? Time sure does fly when the weather is nice (or mostly nice). On Wednesday, we posted an entry about Turkey Hill’s new mini ice cream cakes and asked everyone to leave a comment with a few personal reasons to have a mini celebration. Thanks to everyone who shared celebrations with us!

There were so many great reasons to celebrate and it was very hard to choose just five. After a lot of discussion and some friendly disagreements here at the office, we chose five of our favorites below and will send each of them a coupon for some free Turkey Hill ice cream. Now get out there and celebrate!

MARY WROTE:

I’ve lost those five pounds!
I’ve cleaned my office!
The temperature rose to above 60 degrees!
My son and daughter both got jobs!
My husband threw away the cap from his Pepsi and the plastic bag from the microwave popcorn!
What could be better than these?

.

ANDILU WROTE:

I love to celebrate spring! The first buds on the trees, the first robin sighting, daffodil stems poking through the soil…The days are a little longer too, and there is always that very first day that’s a little bit warm, and just smells like spring. What better way to celebrate than with ice cream?!? Just a hint of many more scoops to come!

.

KAREN JUSTIN RACHEL WROTE:

A day we like to celebrate is the first day of school each year and not because the kids are going back to school and mom gets a break (I work outside of the house) but because getting an education and starting a brand new school year is exciting and worth celebrating. Our positive attitude about school equals kids with positive attitudes about school.

.

CAROL PASQUA WROTE:

I am going to buy one to celebrate my granddaughter’s “potty training” success! Of course, you don’t need a special reason to enjoy Turkey Hill any time.

.

CAROL TRIANO WROTE:

Great for my 84 year old Mom to serve to her friends when they celebrate another year together. We just got a new grandbaby and it would be great to send over to the new Mom & Dad to celebrate the birth of their new son. I am going to take one to my friend so we can celebrate that she is having her last chemo treatment today.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT WITH ICE CREAM CAKE

Friday, March 5th, 2010

If you’re going to get hit in the face with something, being hit with an ice cream cake isn’t all that bad.

That’s exactly what happened to an ice cream shop manager in Rochester, NY earlier this year when a disgruntled employee waited until his last day on the job to take out his frustrations on his soon-to-be former boss. According to one article about the incident, “the manager went to pick up a ringing phone, no one was on the other line, and when he turned around he unexpectedly found himself face-to-face with an 80-ounce sheet of (ice cream) cake.”

The attacker is free on $1,000 bail with a trial set for April. He’s also forbidden to enter the ice cream shop ever again. If they banned him from ALL ice cream shops, that might be a suitable punishment for this senseless crime. And that’s not taking into account what should happen to him for wasting a perfectly good ice cream cake.

COME TO THE PENNSYLVANIA FARM SHOW (AND TRY SOME OF OUR NEW ICE CREAM CAKE!)

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Whatever your actual reason for coming may be, we just wanted to let you know that Turkey Hill will be at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg from January 10-17 this year. We’ll be sampling Raspberry Duetto and, for a short time period each day, the brand new Turkey Hill Ice Cream Cakes. Our at the Farm Show is always one of the highlights of the our sampling tour schedule. At the 2007 show, we set a personal record by giving away over 55,000 samples of Duetto! Above is a shot of our Giant Swirly Cow outside the Farm Show’s Main Entrance that year.

This year, the Turkey Hill tent will be set up in the Maclay Street Lobby, which, for Farm Show regulars, is right in front of the butter sculpture (which is definitely a must-see attraction at the farm show especially while you enjoy that delicious Turkey Hill ice cream sample). The Maclay Street Lobby is also the entrance across the street from the Burger King on the corner of Cameron and Maclay Streets. We also sponsored Learning Stations throughout the Farm Show which feature fun learning activities for kids (and some adults who act like kids) that help teach them all about Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry.

For more information, visit the Farm Show website and please stop by the Turkey Hill booth and and say hello. We’ll have samples and all kinds of goodies for the whole family!

P.S. - On a related side note, we’re adding new locations where you can purchase Turkey Hill Ice Cream Cakes almost daily. Make sure you check the Ice Cream Cake locations page if you haven’t found them near you yet!
