12 DAYS OF ICE CREAM (DAY 3) – WELCOME TO THE ICE CREAM PARTY!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

party-time-icecreamIt’s 8 pm and the party has officially begun! Hopefully everyone has a bowl of either Turkey Hill’s Limited Edition holiday flavors (Egg Nog or Ginger Snap) or another Turkey Hill flavor.

If you’re here, say hello to the group by leaving a comment. Don’t forget to refresh your page often to read new comments and be on the lookout for trivia questions from members of the Turkey Hill Team. Until then, here’s a few questions to get the party started:

1. What’s your all time best ice cream memory?

2. If you could only eat one flavor of ice cream for the rest of your life, what flavor would you choose? (We know, it’s scary to think that you can only have one flavor.)

3. Chocolate syrup on chocolate ice cream: Overkill or just what the doctor ordered?

12 DAYS OF ICE CREAM (DAY 3) – ICE CREAM PARTY TONIGHT!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

EggNogPartyIt’s here: Our second ever Turkey Hill online ice cream party. As far as we know it’s the only ice cream party ever held on a blog or anywhere else on the Internet!

The party’s featured flavors are either of our two Limited Edition holiday flavors: Ginger Snap or Egg Nog. If you can’t find those flavors, don’t worry, just bring a bowl of whatever Turkey Hill ice cream flavor you’d like.

The party starts at 8 pm tonight and ends sometime around 9 pm. Just stop by the Ice Cream Journal during that time with a bowl of ice cream and start chatting with everyone else by leaving a comment or two. We’ll talk about the ice cream (of course), but members of the Turkey Hill team will also be here with trivia questions and prizes. See you then… and tell a friend!

12 Days PillowTODAY’S PRIZE: According to the Etsy website where this pillow is available, “this tasty pillow measures 11″ x 9″ x 3.5″ and is covered in shiny ribbon. A fun present for summer, or a sugary treat for yourself, this pillow is sure to give you sweet dreams!” One comment chosen at random from this entry will win this cushy prize. Good luck!

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! RESEARCHERS FIND WAY TO TURN CLOUDS INTO ICE CREAM!

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Whew! I ate more ice cream last night than I have in a long, long time (and I loved every bite). For those of you who missed it, last night was the first ever Turkey Hill Ice Cream Journal Ice Cream Social. Lots of people people gathered here on the blog at 8pm and sampled various ice creams together while chatting via comments. It was a great time. Thanks to everyone who showed up! We’ll definitely be having another ice cream party in the future.

And now on to the too-good-to-be-true subject of today’s blog entry. Two artists/researchers have theoretically discovered a way to make ice cream-flavored snow fall from the clouds. Sounds far fetched, doesn’t it? That’s because It is (for now… sorry), but in 10 or 20 years, it could make spending a day in the park a lot tastier!

The plan, called “The Cloud Project,” involves using sophisticated machinery (which still needs to be invented) to spray liquid nitrogen and ice cream-flavoring into the clouds, which causes the moisture in the clouds to condense, freeze and blanket the earth below in a yummy layer of ice cream snow. Making it work for real is still the biggest obstacle, but the artists have retrofitted an ice cream truck with an attachment which uses the same idea to spray out miniature ice cream snow storms. They also use the truck to distribute ice cream made with liquid nitrogen to curious bystanders.

Just think, one day the weather forecast could be cloudy with a chance of chocolate chip cookie dough. Shoveling the sidewalks just got a whole lot more fun!

THE JULY ICE CREAM PARTY IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW ON THIS ENTRY!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

NOTE: For this entry, if you’d like to, please put your hometown and state at the end of each comment to let people know where everyone at this party is from!

.

Let the party begin!

This Wednesday night, everyone is invited to visit the Ice Cream Journal with a Turkey Hill Limited Edition flavor and chat with the group via comment about what you liked (or didn’t like) about the flavor. You may even choose to sample multiple flavors…we know we will.

The Limited Edition flavors you may find in your store include Fried Ice Cream (April), Peanut Butter Brownie (May), Southern Lemon Pie (June) or, our newest Limited Edition flavor, Double Dunker. If you can’t find a Limited Edition flavor or prefer a Light Recipe flavor, just grab some of that and join us anyhow!

You can chat about anything you’d like, but here are a few questions to consider when commenting during our party:

1. Did the flavor taste the way you imagined it would?

2. Did you like it? If so, should we make it a permanent flavor in the Turkey Hill line-up?

3. What’s your favorite part of the flavor?

4. What would you change (if anything) about the flavor?

5. What sort of toppings would go well with the flavor?

6. If you could change the name of the flavor, what would you call it?

7. Is there anything in the world better than an ice cream party?

The Turkey Hill Team will be here too, chatting right along with you and answering any questions you may have. See you Wednesday night… and like we said in the subject line, feel free to invite a friend either by forwarding this blog entry to them or inviting them over to your house to join in the fun. The more, the merrier!

WE’RE THROWING AN ICE CREAM PARTY AND YOU’RE INVITED!

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Who doesn’t love an ice cream party? They were awesome when you were eight and they’re awesome when you’re 48. That’s why we’re trying something new, starting now.

Next week Wednesday night, beginning at 8 pm EST, we’re going to host a live ice cream tasting party right here on the Ice Cream Journal. The flavors will be any of our current Limited Edition flavors you might be able to find in your store (many are still available). That includes Fried Ice Cream (April), Peanut Butter Brownie (May), Southern Lemon Pie (June) or, our newest Limited Edition flavor, Double Dunker (mocha ice cream swirled with chewy cookie dough and crunchy chocolate cookie swirl). If you can’t find any of the Limited Edition flavors, just grab whatever flavor you like!

At that time, we invite everyone to stop by the Ice Cream Journal with your fresh bowl of ice cream (or ice creams) and share your opinion of the flavor and chat with the rest of the party guests with a comment on that day’s ice cream party blog post. The party will last for about half an hour, or as long as you want to hang around.

As far as we know, it’ll be the first ever live ice cream party in the history of the Internet so, in addition to tasting some new ice cream and chatting with fellow ice cream lovers, you’ll also be a part of ice cream history. Again, that’s next Wednesday night (July 29) at 8 pm EST. Who’s ready to party?

GOODWILL AND THE GIANT COW

Friday, May 8th, 2009

As many of you know, Turkey Hill’s Giant Cow really gets around. You see it at fairs, carnivals, store openings, sporting events and sometimes, if you’re lucky, cruising down the highway on its way to another appearance.

Today, our Giant Swirly Cow paid a visit to Goodwill’s award ceremony in Lancaster, bringing with her plenty of Turkey Hill ice cream. The party was purchased at a Lancaster Farmland Trust benefit auction and then donated to Goodwill. Goodwill provides job coaching and training to people with disabilities, and today they honored trainees and business partners for their achievements and commitment.

Some trainees were brought to tears over the excitement of receiving an award for the great work that they do. But once they shed the tears, they were dancing and waving around their favorite Turkey Hill ice cream cups. There were plenty of flavors to choose from. From Eagles Touchdown Sundae to Phillies Graham Slam to Party Cake. Many people couldn’t decide which one to pick, so they picked two flavors. Some chose three.

Of course, there was some friendly debate, too. Steelers fans shied away from the Eagles flavors (they don’t know what they’re missing), so they went with the Party Cake instead. Overall, more than 150 people were on hand and thrilled to enjoy Turkey Hill ice cream on this warm, May day.
