Ultimate Flavor Tournament (Round Two): Chocolate, caramel, hazelnuts and minty cookies

Posted by Turkey Hill Team on April 25th, 2017

Two more heavyweight match-ups have arrived in our Ultimate Flavor Tournament in the quest to bring one retired flavor back to the Turkey Hill line-up! Check out the contenders below along with our expert opinions on each flavor’s chances.

Cast your vote in the polls in the right hand sidebar of the blog AND leave a comment with your favorites. At the end of the tournament, we’ll choose one comment at random from all the comments left during the tournament to win a ONE YEAR supply of ice cream!

And don’t forget, we’re also posting match-ups on our Facebook page, so follows us there and cast your votes for another chance to win the grand prize. May the best retired flavor win!

Dulce de Leche vs. German Chocolate Cake

DULCE DE LECHE (2000-2001, 2003) – Ribbons of creamy caramel ripple swirled throughout caramel ice cream

GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE (2004-2005, 2007, 2009-2010) – Caramel, almonds, coconut, and chocolate cake pieces in chocolate ice cream

MATCH-UP ANALYSIS: In round one, Dulce de Leche toppled Dutch Neapolitan and German Chocolate Cake took down fan favorite Fried Ice Cream. Both are impressive wins, but German Chocolate Cake has the added advantage of combining chocolate ice cream AND caramel. Throw in the chocolate cake pieces and you’ve got a force to be reckoned with!

Hazelnut Fudge vs. Mint Cookies ‘n Cream

HAZELNUT FUDGE (1996) – Choco hazelnuts and rich hazelnut fudge sprinkled throughout vanilla ice cream

MINT COOKIES ‘N CREAM (1991-1995) – Cool mint ice cream with heaping scoops of chocolate cookie pieces

MATCH-UP ANALYSIS: This match-up is a tough one to call, but we’re leaning toward Mint Cookies ‘n Cream having the advantage in this one mainly because of the power of its classic cousin, Cookies ‘n Cream. But who knows…maybe Hazelnut Fudge has what it takes to pull off an upset!
