Ultimate Flavor Tournament (Round Two): Snickers doodles, sticky buns, lattes, and tin lizzies

Posted by Turkey Hill Team on May 9th, 2017

This week’s Round 2 match-ups are an interesting bunch, featuring a four fantastic flavors from the 1990s. Which ones will win and move one step closer to making a 21st century comeback? That’s for you to decide.

Cast your vote in the polls in the right hand sidebar of the blog AND leave a comment with your favorites. At the end of the tournament, we’ll choose one comment at random from all the comments left during the tournament to win a ONE YEAR supply of ice cream!

And don’t forget, we’re also posting match-ups on our Facebook page, so follows us there and cast your votes for another chance to win the grand prize. Now let’s get to the showdowns…

Snicker Doodle Dandy vs. Sticky Bun

SNICKER DOODLE DANDY (1996-2000) – Cinnamon ice cream with snicker doodle cookies and swirls of cinnamon caramel

STICKY BUN (1997-2000) – Pecan sticky bun pieces and cinnamon caramel swirled throughout cinnamon ice cream

EXPERT ANALYSIS: Both of these flavors spent four years together in the Limited Edition line-up in the late 90s. Boy bands were all the rage and the entire world was stressed out about Y2K. But these two flavors made it out of the 90s and into the new Millennium. Now they’re facing off against each other and only one can win. Our bet (if we were the betting type) is that Tin Lizzie Sundae pulls out a win and advances to Round 3.

Swiss Almond Latte vs. Tin Lizzie Sundae

SWISS ALMOND LATTE (1998) – Dark chocolate covered almonds mixed throughout vanilla coffee-flavored ice cream

TIN LIZZIE SUNDAE (1991-1995) – Our original vanilla ice cream swirled with caramel fudge and choco peanuts

EXPERT ANALYSIS: Swiss Almond Latte may have just one year of Limited Edition experience, but that doesn’t mean its not a force to be reckoned with. It took down Wild Blueberry in Round 1 and now it has Tin Lizzie Sundae squarely in its sights. But Swiss Almond Latte has a lot of fight in it and we expect this match-up to go down to the wire.

I am not fond of cinnamon ice cream or ice cream with cookies or dough pieces, but the Swiss Almond and the Tin Lizzie both sound awesome. Since I have to vote for only one, I chose the Swiss because I actually designed my ice cream at the Lab at the Turkey Hill Experience by mixing coffe ice cream, chocolate swirls, and almonds and it was delicious!
